Longwood Center – Groundbreaking

National Development and their teaming partners, Charles River Realty, Alexandria Real Estate Holdings and Clarion Partners, held a ground-breaking ceremony on June 21st for the eleven-story Longwood Center medical research facility being built in the Longwood medical area in Boston.  Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will be the major tenant in the research building.  CEO, Dr. Edward Benz, described the world-changing cancer research that will be conducted at this state-of the-art research facility.  Boston’s Mayor, Tom Menino, also spoke of the importance of the project to the vitality of Boston and our client, Tom Alperin, President of National Development, spoke of the great work being done by Sanborn Head on the project.  Sanborn Head is providing geotechnical engineering and Massachusetts Contingency Plan environmental services for the project.

Construction commenced on the project in February and slurry wall construction is well underway. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2014.

Mat DiPilato (Principal-In-Charge) and Kevin Stetson (Project Manager) attended.  Jaime Colby and Martin Menke are providing very long hours of construction monitoring services on this very challenging geotechnical project.
