Dan Carr has focused on civil and environmental engineering as a professional consultant since 1982. Specializing in groundwater/remedial engineering and quantitative hydrology, he brings hands-on professional experience in a variety of engineering/scientific disciplines including: environmental chemistry, hydrologic and hydraulic site design; groundwater supply and wastewater development; facility closures; environmental site, and regulatory compliance evaluations. He has directed work at solid and hazardous waste landfills, petroleum sites from gasoline stations to bulk storage facilities; and hazardous substance sites under RCRA, CERCLA and a variety of State programs. He has served as a principal investigator on water supply development projects involving siting, testing, and permitting of new groundwater supplies for commercial, industrial, and institutional use. Since 2002 Dan has managed one of the largest projects in the U.S. involving subsurface migration of halogenated volatile organic vapors and intrusion into occupied building space. SHA's work has led to development and refinement of State and Federal regulatory standards and guidance for vapor intrusion investigations and building mitigation. He has participated in technical presentations at public meetings and hearings and a variety of local, regional, national and international symposia. Recent speaking engagements include the University Consortium for Solvents in Groundwater Research, and Corporate Environmental Conferences.
