Joan helped start up Sanborn Head’s Energy practice, contributing significant industry knowledge and experience gained over her 30-year career.

Joan’s focus is on process design and analysis for projects involving liquefied natural gas, natural gas, propane, and alternative fuel applications such as biogas. In addition to design and design-build services, Joan engages with clients in strategic planning to help address energy, operational, and budgetary challenges. Joan has helped grow the company’s Energy market group; she has dedicated considerable time to building a great team and making sure staff have the training and resources they need to be successful.
Joan is very active within the gas and energy sector and is frequently invited to present on matters relating to natural gas and energy resiliency. She is a member of the Supplemental Gas Committee of the American Gas Association, Northeast Energy and Commerce Association, and the Northeast Gas Association.
Joan holds degrees in chemical and environmental engineering from the University of Lowell and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her favorite part of the job is the ability to develop industry and client relationships that lead to meaningful and challenging projects for her team.
When she’s not at work, Joan enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family, including young grandchildren.
