Sanborn Head is pleased to announce two 2025 year-end senior leadership promotions and leadership changes which take effect in January 2026.

2025 Year-End Senior Promotions
Derek Long, PE has been promoted to Project Director. Derek joined Sanborn Head in 2014 as a civil engineer in the Solid Waste Client Service Area, and has become a steady, trusted leader whose impact is felt across the firm. Derek leads complex solid waste projects while cultivating strong relationships with clients and is widely recognized for his instinct to step in, stabilize challenges, and support teams and clients alike. Derek was recently elected to the Board of Directors for Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Southern New England Chapter.
Jonathan Hillman, PE has been promoted to Project Director. Jonny joined Sanborn Head in 2019 as a mechanical engineer in the Energy Client Service Area, and has since demonstrated strong leadership, technical rigor, and a consistent focus on quality design. As a former Senior Project Manager and Engineer of Record for several major design projects at the firm, Jonny leads with integrity, holds himself and his teammates to high standards, and takes ownership when challenges arise. He is committed to mentoring and developing others within the firm.
2026 Leadership Changes
Sean Murphy, PG, was newly elected to Sanborn Head’s Board of Directors for a three-year term as an internal director beginning on January 1, 2026. We look forward to the new insights and viewpoints he will bring to the Board, rooted in his commitment to our culture and values. Sean will take the place of Kevin Stetson, PE who completed a three-year board term starting in 2023. We extend our sincere gratitude to Kevin for his service to the Board and for his invaluable contributions to the firm’s success.
Charlie Head, PE, PG and Barret Cole, PG, LEP were also re-elected to the Board as internal directors, for a one-year term and a three-year term, respectively. We thank them for their continued service.
